Dietary patterns associated with the risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women

Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between dietary patterns and risk associated with osteoporosis in Jordanian postmenopausal women recently diagnosed osteoporosis. A case–control design was used determine nutrient intake, lifestyle patterns. Two hundred were enrolled; 100 patients newly osteoporosis, osteoporosis-free controls, according inclusion criteria. Case control groups selected from visitors University Jordan Hospital Osteoporosis Prevention Society. case-to-control ratio (1:1). Four identified they include: ‘High-Fruits Vegetables', 'Traditional', 'Unhealthy/Western', 'High-Proteins', which accounted for 44.7% total variance food intake. Vegetables’ pattern showed a decreased likelihood fourth quartile [Q4: AOR 0.375, 95% CI (0.154–0.9150), P = 0.031]. On other hand, ‘Unhealthy/Western’ ‘High-Protein’ positively ([Q3: 2.834, 95%CI (1.081–7.430), 0.034] [AQ3: OR 2.601, (1.983–6.882), 0.045], respectively) third quartile. present results suggest that 'High-Fruits Vegetables' may exert protective effect on while 'Unhealthy/Western' 'High-Protein' positive effects Graphical
